| I need to vent. I can't believe someone I love so much could put me through so much worry. And be dumb enough to drink with friends to the point where they were all at least tipsy, then let probably the least stable of all of them drive! They were all lucky they didn't get in a wreck. If the friend had any sense, she should just take chances with her own life, not three other people's lives. Including my boyfriend's. Smart people can make the dumbest decisions. | | |
| I don't understand why people love college so much. All I see it as is 4 years of hardass work, no sleep, gross food, annoying drunk and high people, minimal fun, and having no money and feeling guilty for spending your parents' money. I feel like every single problem or every single test is going to determine whether I get into med school or not. That really is the worst feeling in the world...it makes life suck that much more. I think college has just made me go insane. I'm currently blowing my brains out randomly deriving physics equations. Fuck Physics...when am I EVER going to need to know anything on special relativity? NEVER. Hmph.
Next semester ==> 4 labs = suicide
| Time for Ming to update. First things first...Hurricane Rita. Well on Wednesday, Rice finally canceled classes for Thursday and Friday at about 3:30pm. So I hurried to find a ride back home. I thought why not have a nice long weekend at home with my family? So I left with Holly, Celina, and Alex. Holly graduated from Colleyville Heritage, the power rangers, and Celina graduated from Paschal, the purple people. Alex is actually from Mercer Island which is in Washington. So we left at around 6:30pm in Holly's 1993 Toyota Corolla. About 3 hours into our trip, we saw that the battery was going crazy cuz we were barely moving and the car was getting super hot. And hour later, we pulled off I-45 and stopped in front of an Autozone to use the bathroom. Well, the car died. It had taken us 4 hours just to get from Rice to the Woodlands, usually about a 40 to 50 minute drive. And we were stranded... We called Holly's dad who decided to drive all the way from Grapevine to where we were and pick us up. While we waited the 3 hours that it took for him to get there, we walked down dark streets to get to a LaQuinta. There we waited in the lobby. At around 3am, Holly's dad had gotten there and we had to walk back to the gas station where he was. SCARY!!!!!!!!! This old cowboy in a truck whistled at us....it was disgusting. We also got some lusty creepy looks from guys on I-45...WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!! Thank God Alex was with us. It would've been horrible if it was just us girls. I can't believe guys were still that horny when trying to escape a freaking hurricane. Anyway, so Holly's dad drove all night going through country roads, finally getting to Highway 6, passing through Texas A&M, going to Waco on I-35 then getting home. At about 8am on I-35, Holly's dad fell asleep at the wheel for a second and the right side mirror hit the bumper on the freeway. Fortunately nothing happened to us but we were all pretty freaked out. So we finally got home at around 9am Thursday morning. I was finally home and it had taken us about 15 hours! Houston did a horrible job organizing the evacuation of about 2 million people. Next time city officials should be more organized. It's ironic that the hurricane didn't even really hit Houston...Thanks to everyone who thought about me and offered me shelter
Well the rest of the weekend was nice. Basically I played with Weiwei the whole time. He's gotten soooo cute!!!!!!! And he talks a lot more now He's AWESOME at pretending to be SpiderMan or a Power Ranger. We got him a SpiderMan costume for Halloween at Party City! He's SUPER CUTE!!!!
I flew back to Rice Monday afternoon. Unfortunately I didn't really get any work done at home. Now I have to work super hard. Next week I have two tests again...pretty lame BUT I will be coming home for Fall Break in less than two weeks!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!
| OMG I'M UPDATING!!!!!!!! haha, those math and physics problems that take an hour each really make me want to relax and not do anything.
Last Friday, I went to see Howl's Moving Castle with some friends. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Yah i couldn't stop talking about it. Very romantic, it made me all giddy
Haven't been able to sleep well this week, I guess i'm having one of my insomnia spells again. BOO!!!!!!
Wish I could come home this labor day weekend but unfortunately, it's not going to happen
Late night Ramen with the 312 Quad (minus Matt, who was not present!) was funfun
Halo on the computer gives me motion sickness
I love Chris
"Jones? FUCK JONES!!!!!" gotta love the simplicity
| So, I am officially at Rice. O-Week was interesting. I had the worst luck EVER!!!!! First, my whole group went to get our ID's made. We went in alphabetical order by last name. So I had to go last. Right after the guy takes my picture, the damn machine stops printing out cards. So you can say I broke the machine with my picture if you'd like Then I was planning on going to the bathroom. Someone hadn't flushed the toilet after they went so I flushed it. Then the whole thing overflowed on me and I ran out of the bathroom screaming Ok, then I went to bed at like 3am cuz I was talking to someone only to be woken up for an "initiation ritual" called McGuffin at 5am. They blasted loud music and ran through the halls yelling and pounding on our doors Then we had to go outside to 12 stations with our groups and do things such as, throwing a 21 pound dead fish, passing an orange with our necks, and jumping the hedges. Now let me tell you about THAT. They had told us that we would get bonus points for jumping the hedges. So everyone in my group went. Well, I didn't quite jump far enough and ended up getting my legs all scratched up and bloody...hooray........... Then we find out later, the points don't even MATTER FUCK!!!!!!! Then later that night, I locked myself INSIDE my room......and had to pound on the door to get out. Don't leave your key in the door then lock it from the inside...
Then there is the whole transfer credit situation. Basically, switching from a quarter system to a semester system is suicide The Registrar's office doesn't understand the quarter system and gives you the wrong credits or no credits for classes. Now we all know that math 31A is the first single variable calc, 31B is the second single variable calc, and 32A is the first multivariable calc. But nooo, they didn't give me any equivalency credit for 31B but gave me the second single variable calc credit for 32A......... DIEDIEDIEDIEDIE. At the moment, they are deliberating my chemistry credits....Worse off, I have to start Organic Chemistry ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this prof SUCKS ASS. Cantrill is AWESOME, Matsuda is NOT. At least it's all review until the end of the semester.
So this semester I am taking: Organic Chemistry, Differential Equations, Physics with lab, a German Fairy Tales class, and a Humanities class. Another thing on Rice. I'm required to take Differential Equations but not Multivariable Calc......................BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Ok, I guess I'm done ranting. The class sizes seem bigger than at UCLA. What's up with this? And Houston is gross hahaha. On the plus side, EVERYONE knows your name and most of them are super nice. We had an honor code exam. My room is rather large and presently I have no roommate. My family is coming next month for family weekend so I get to see Weiwei And I got to see Chris when he was home!!!!!
I miss you guys at UCLA. I've made some friends but they're all freshmen basically. And not nearly as cool as you guys! At least not yet. And I can't make fun of the professors with Wendy Btw, my math prof is this other Chinese dude who has a funny accent. And no more sushi, not even the fake Hedrick kind! I've already got tons of work this week but maybe it's because I'm totally staying on top of things and getting stuff done early. We'll see. I did see my friend Amanda from middle school. She moved to New Jersey after our freshman year at Martin. So I'm happy about that
Oh yah, so I was reading Chad's xanga and it made me crack up about people in high school who have nothing really important to do making themselves feel important. Chad'd xanga is always refreshing!
